Hey everyone! Today marks my first review on something for this blog, and since I’ve been trying the Cantu Shea Butter Leave-In Conditioning Repair Cream and Cantu Shea Butter Grow Strong Strengthening Treatment for a while now, I’ve decided to review both. Let’s get started shall we?

Cantu Shea Butter Leave-in Conditioning Repair Cream
Product details taken from website: Cantu® shea butter Leave In Conditioning Repair Cream is made with real shea butter and essential oils to replace vital oil in your hair leaving it stronger and healthier with a natural shine.
Cantu® shea butter leave in conditioning repair cream can be used on wet hair as an intensive moisturizing treatment or to tame frizz and fly-aways.

Cantu® Shea Butter Leave In Conditioning Repair Cream helps…
  • moisturize dry brittle hair with deep penetrating oil and emollients
  • soften, detangle and add shine to hair
  • protect hair against heat and sun styling damage
  • provide extra protection from split ends and breakage
Directions for:
  • Daily Styling – Apply to towel dried hair.  Work a generous amount of product into hair beginning at the roots to the tips.  Comb through for even distribution.  Do not rinse.  Apply more to longer hair at the ends or problem areas.
  • Leave In Treatment – Apply as directed for “Daily Styling” just after shampooing.  Re-apply and cover with a plastic cap overnight for maximum absorbtion and intensive conditioning.
  • Frizz Free Hair – Apply daily to split ends or damaged areas.  Comb through and let dry naturally.
Pros
  • It is very lightweight and does not weigh my hair down.
  • Does not leave my hair stiff
Cons
  • It can sometimes leave my hair hard to de-tangle when it is not fairly damp
Thoughts: I like this product for my hair. I find that I use it quite often after I’ve shampooed washed my hair or if my hair feels soggy from over moisturizing, since it is a light protein. I find that I can use this nightly and it doesn’t make my dry hair too hard to deal with. I have repurchased this twice and I have recommended it to other people. The smell on this is pleasant for me (because y’all know how I love things that smell good lol) and it’s not overpowering. A jar of this will last you a LONG time. I still have a little of my first jar left and this is after both my mother and I have been using it. This definitely has a place in my healthy hair growth journey. I hope Cantu continues to make this product nicely and not ruin it by changing the formula drastically.

Cantu Shea Butter Grow Strong Strengthening Treatment
Product details taken from website: Cantu® Grow Strong Strengthening Treatment prevents breakage before it starts by penetrating and moisturizing hair from the roots to the tips.
Cantu® Grow Strong Strengthening Treatment is made with pure shea butter and essential oils to replace vital oil to your scalp and in your hair leaving it stronger and healthier with a natural shine.

Cantu® Shea Butter Grow Strong Strengthening Treatment helps…
  • strengthens fragile, weak and brittle hair to stop breakage
  • moisturize dry brittle hair with deep penetrating oil and emollients
  • protect hair against heat and styling damage
Directions for:
  • Daily Styling – massage into hair beginning at the roots and working towards the ends.  For deeper penetration, leave covered under a plastic cap overnight.
  • Daily Protection – apply before brushing, styling, drying, or setting to form a thermal protection barrier around your hair.
  • Pre/Post Chemical Treatment – apply 3 days prior and 3 days after relaxing or coloring your hair.
Pros
  • It is a pretty good heat protectant if you like a creamier heat protectant
  • It has a pleasant smell
  • It doesn’t weigh my hair down
Cons
  • This makes my hair feel weird when I put it in after washing my hair, whether it’s with conditioner or shampoo.
  • The jar is so small. Though it can last a while, I’d like a bigger jar on something that can be used daily.
  • The consistency feels a little weird to me. Kinda…bouncy-ish? I don’t know. I find that I have to use a little more than I want to when I’m straightening my hair.
Thoughts: Honestly, I don’t know if I would purchase this product again. It seems like to me that this could be a hit or miss product for some people. Some may love it, while others hate it. I feel that I can learn to love it, but I’ll have to see what it does for my hair to prepare it for my relaxer in October. If I like how it adds protein to my hair, then I may buy it again only for that purpose. As for right now, I will not be purchasing this until I test it out one last time.
Final review/thoughts: All in all, my favorite product would have to be the Leave-In Conditioning Repair Cream. I alternate between using this for my nightly M/S with my Aussie Split-End Protector. It has a definite place in my regimen. I find it to perfect for a daily dose of protein, especially in the winter months. I layer this with a moisture based moisturizer for the winter and my hair seems to love it.
I hope you all enjoyed this review. If you have tried any Cantu products, tell me your thoughts and experiences. I’d love to here them. Talk to you all later! ♥
