Hey guys! I wanted to review the Schwarzkopf Professionals BC Repair Rescue Shampoo & Conditioner. I got these products in my Bride-To-Be VoxBox for testing and review purposes. I’m working on a post about Influenster, and I will try to get that to you guys soon. But onto the review.

A little background info on my hair: I have been relaxing my hair since I was in middle school, but I have been on my hair journey on and off for about two years now. My natural hair texture is around 4a (because of my relaxer), but is more 4b/4c than anything else. I stretch my relaxers for as long as I want (right now it has been around 7 months post relaxer). I am not transitioning into natural hair, though I use natural hair practices to tend to my new growth. At the current moment, my hair stops close to Arm Pit Length (APL; post trim). Though it is becoming healthy, my hair is still damaged from relaxers and the environment.

Pros:

  • It made my hair feel a little stronger. Because this is a protein based conditioner, I think this will be good for anyone who feels like their hair is overly soggy from too much moisture, but I would stray away if you’re protein sensitive.
  • It has a pleasant smell. It smells of baby powder, which is very light and fresh smelling. Some may like it, some may hate it.
  • If you have thinner, shorter hair, this product will last a longer time for you. It isn’t as thick as some other shampoos can be, so if you like thinner shampoos, you may like this one.

Cons:

  • It’s very thin. For me, I like creamy conditioners because my new growth is thick. It is simple to get it into my hair, but I feel like I have to use more than to get my hair clean like I like it.
  • The ingredients. Personally, for this to be a salon brand, I would love if the company put the good ingredients (such as the proteins) closer to the top and things like the fragrance more to the bottom. For my relaxed haired ladies, you know we need protein in order to keep our protein/moisture balances right. I don’t like that the proteins are closer to the bottom than the bad ingredients are.
  • The price. I view this shampoo as a clarifying shampoo because it did make my hair feel a little drier than when I use my normal shampoo. Granted, this is a salon brand, so it will cost a little more, but if you’re going to use this shampoo every day or every other day, I’m not a big fan of the price.
  • This is both a pro and a con. This left my hair feeling stripped, kind of like when I use my clarifying shampoo. It left my hair feeling as though I needed to add moisture to it (though I had done a moisturizing deep conditioning beforehand), but not stripped to the point where it was hard to part through.

Ingredients: Water (Aqua), Sodium Laureth Sulfate, Disodium Cocoamphodiacetate, Sodium Chloride, PEG-7, Glyceryl Cocoate, Fragrance (Parfum), Citric Acid, PEG-12 Dimethicone, Polyquaternium-10, Sodium Benzoate, Styrene/Acrylates Copolymer, Laureth-2, Hydrogenated Castor Oil, Salicylic Acid, Propylene Glycol, Panthenol, Hydroxpropyltrimonium Hydrolyzed Wheat Protein, PEG-55 Propylene Glycol Oleate, PEG-14M, Hydrolyzed Vegetable Protein PG-Propyl Silanetriol, Hydrolyzed Keratin

Initials thoughts: When I first tried out this shampoo, I found it to be runnier and thinner than my normal, standard conditioner. I’m used to a thicker consistency of shampoo, so using this was a little different for me. As always, I washed my hair in 5 sections, taking some of the shampoo and massaging it into my scalp to cleanse it. It gave a little bit of lather, but not how I like it to.

Schwarzkopf Professionals BC Repair Rescue Conditioner (for damaged hair)

Info on the back of the bottle: Repair Rescue Conditioner detangles damaged hair and reinforces it with strength and elasticity. BC hairtherapy with Cura+ Protein Complex strengthens the hair structure. Amino Cell Rebuild Technology restores the hair’s elasticity and rebuilds the hair structure from within. For strong and manageable hair full of healthy shine. Application: Massage into towel-dried hair and rise-out after 2 minutes. Salon Exclusive

Retails for: $21

Pros:

  • I could feel some of the elasticity it added into my hair. Right now, after air drying my hair, I can pull at my hair gently and it will just bounce back. I love that fact my hair bounces back because I can remember a time when it didn’t and my hair would actually break off. If you have an elasticity problem, this may help some.
  • Just like the shampoo, this one has a pleasant smell. The smell of the conditioner reminds me of the Suave Naturals Almond and Shea Butter conditioner and I like the smell of that a lot.

Cons:

  • It made a difference in my detangling; for the worse. I make it a habit to detangle my hair with product in it, and sometimes before I add products. My hair felt a little harder to detangle than it usually is after shampoo washing my hair and I didn’t like that.
  • Like the shampoo, this is a very thin conditioner, one that I think my fellow relaxed ladies, as well as natural ladies, will not like if you love a thicker conditioner for your strands. Personally, this reminds me of the ApHogee 2 Min Reconstructor, but it is a little thinner than the ApHogee. Once again, if you are a fan of thinner conditioners, then this product may be nice for you.
  • The ingredients. For my gripes, look at the con for the shampoo’s ingredients.

Ingredients: Water (Aqua), Cetearyl Alcohol, Quaternium-87, Propylene Glycol, Isopropyl Myristate, Distearoylethyl Hydroxyethylmonium Methosulfate, Fragrance (Parfum), Citric Acid, Phenoxyethanol, Stearamidopropyl Dimethylamine, Sodium Methylparaben, Polyquaternium-37, Propylene Glycol Dicaprylate/Dicaprate, Panthenol, Hydroxypropyltrimonium, Hydrolyzed Wheat Protein, PPG-1 Trideceth-6, Hydrolyzed Vegetable Protein, PG-Propyl Silanetriol, Benzyl Salicylate, Hydrolyzed Keratin

Initial thoughts: When I first put this conditioner into my hair, I didn’t notice any problem putting it onto the length of my hair. I put this in the same five sections I washed my hair and let it sit on my hair for the required two minutes. I was expecting it to make my hair feel like my other reconstructor does, but that wasn’t the case. My ApHogee usually makes my hair feel a little stronger, as this one did, but the Repair Rescue Conditioner did not make it easier for me to detangle. It was hard to get my comb through my wet hair (without products) and that it something that really turned me off on the product.

Final thoughts: The shampoo/conditioner were an okay product in my book. With my hair texture, I feel that the shampoo and conditioner did not benefit my hair as much as someone else with a looser texture or finer hair in general. I would not purchase these products on my own because I have other shampoos and conditioners that work well in my hair, but this does not mean I wouldn’t recommend any of you try it out for yourselves. I always say this and it has yet to not hold true; what may not work for me, may work for you. What may work for me, may not work for you. If I had a looser texture and/or finer hair, the shampoo and conditioner would have probably been better for my hair. This isn’t a bad call on the company’s end; the products are great, just not for me.

I hope you all enjoyed this review. Stay tuned because I have more reviews coming. Thank you all for reading and have a great day.
